Temple Terrace To Explore Redevelopment Alternatives

Published: Aug 8, 2005

TEMPLE TERRACE - The city council has scheduled a Tuesday workshop to discuss downtown redevelopment in the wake of last week's failed referendum.
By a margin of 57 percent to 43 percent, voters rejected the sale of municipal revenue bonds and a 1- mill property tax increase to pay part of the the city's one-fifth share of the proposed $300 million redevelopment project.

Alternatives to the downtown redevelopment proposal targeting the area southeast of 56th Street and Busch Boulevard are being explored by the staff for discussion at the 11 a.m. Tuesday workshop, spokeswoman Paula MacDonald said.

The city hall meeting, to follow a budget workshop, will be aired live on the Temple Terrace government access television, cable channel 20 within the city.
